I'm so happy to be here! Please bear with me as I am just getting my footing.
Many years ago, entrepreneurs had to get accustomed to the idea of being visual and entertaining. We all started playing on Instagram. It was a fantastic tool, and it was an adjustment to the life of a founder. I am so glad the scrappiest years of Jeni's were without social media! I was covered in ice cream, exhausted, and not Instagrammable!
Now, I am losing interest in that part of the internet and want to go deeper here on Substack. But this, too, is an adjustment—and it's a lot more intimidating! I am not a writer, but I am a communicator. I communicate through flavor, art, and design, and I personally did most of the writing at Jeni's for a long time.
Learning to write on Substack differs from writing about flavors, but there are similarities. At Jeni's, my goal was to inspire and activate you and make you feel loved. It's not so different here. I'm enjoying the process of learning, and it is also terrifying.
I'm sure this project will evolve as we go and as I become more confident and acquainted with its features.
